Did you buy your kid a new iOS device this holiday season? Are you worried about them overspending in the App store? We have put together a couple sure ways to help keep your credit card from being over used in the App Store.
How to Set iTunes Allowances
- Open iTunes and sign in to your account. Be sure all the information is correct including the credit card numbers.
- Click the “Home” button in the menu across the top of the screen.
- Click on “Buy iTunes gift” in the right side bar of the page.
- Scroll down the page until you see “Set Up Allowance” Click on it.
- Once the page opens you will need to enter all the specified information including how much you wish to allot the user you are setting up allowance for now.
- Follow the on screen instructions to complete the set up.
Enable Restrictions
Maybe you rather completely turn off the app buying options. By using "Enable Restrictions" you can control many different things such as Facetime, Safari, installing/deleting apps, and much more. These are just a few of the many features you can control on iOS devices.
- Open Settings > General > Restrictions
- Select Enable Restrictions
- Here you can control many of the great features in iOS 6 including app store restrictions.
- Choose a four digit code -keep in mind this code doesn't have any thing to do with the lockscreen sign in passcode. Once the code has been selected you may restrict a number of different feature’s such as FaceTime, installing/deleting apps, and more.
- Once the passcode has been selected it must be entered before purchases can be made apps or anything else in iTunes store.
